About Me

Amateur radio holds a special place in my life, as this call sign was previously issued to my dad, who inspired me to get into this incredible hobby. His passion for amateur radio introduced me to the joy of communication, experimentation, and exploration.

When my dad didn't renew this call sign, I decided to take it up as a tribute to him and the great memories we share. Now, I'm encouraging him to apply for a new call sign so we can work the airwaves together.

I've been a licensed operator since november 2024, and it's been an amazing journey so far!

I operate from Mislinja, Slovenia; locator JN76ok.

Mislinja is a municipality in northern Slovenia, located under the hills of the Pohorje mountain range. It is surrounded by forests and peaceful, beautiful nature. Its natural beauty, tranquility, good people, my home, and fond memories make it a wonderful place to live. Growing up here, I learned to appreciate all its beauty, simplicity, and the close connections among the people.

Achievements & Statistics

Since becoming licensed in November 2024, I've been active on the bands and have achieved some exciting milestones:

First Contact

One of my most memorable moments was making my first contact while returning from Switzerland to Slovenia through Italy. I stopped at a rest area near Milan, decided to check the radio waves, and made contact with a friendly Italian operator. We even exchanged holiday wishes for Christmas and New Year!

Satellite Contacts

My first satellite contact was particularly special - after numerous attempts on the always-busy SO-50 satellite, I finally succeeded just before 2 AM on New Year's Day 2025! Since then, I've made additional satellite contacts, bringing my total to 3 QSOs via LEO satellites.

DX & Special Events

I've had the privilege of working some excellent DX stations, including VP2ETE in Anguilla (Caribbean), stations in Oman (A41RX, A41CK), Kuwait (9K2ES, 9K9NLD), Saudi Arabia (HZ1LR, 8Z3FD), UAE (A61KZ/M), and Israel (4X6HU, 4X6TT). These long-distance contacts across different continents have been thrilling experiences.

I've participated in several special event stations including IARU Centennial celebrations, YOTA (Youngsters On The Air) events, and various national commemorative stations. These contacts help preserve amateur radio heritage and connect with the global ham community.

Operating Statistics

Current statistics: 250+ QSOs across 4 continents (EU, AS, AF, NA), worked 45+ different countries/DXCC entities, with contacts ranging from local European neighbors to distant DX stations. Most activity on 20 meters using USB mode, plus FM for satellite work.
